Things to NOT buy if you are a binge eater

I have complied a photo list of items for that normal people can buy and keep in the pantry.  I cannot.  I am a hot and cold person.  If I love you, I LOVE YOU.  If I am doing yoga, I am in full splits and handstands.   If you are a cupcake, I am going to eat you…No, I will devour you….and all your little friends too.  I have admitted my sugar addiction and how it makes me crazy before and it is REAL.  I choose to only have things in my house that I will not binge on.  Except pickles, since they are basically a vegetable.

Whoever created these must die.  They taste like  KitKats.  GNC had these on sale.   Buy 3 get 1 free.  I thought this would be 4 days of protein yummy treats.  Nope.  Gone.  In like 3 seconds.  Poof.

I thought it would be fun to buy a 200 pack of Tic Tacs and keep the pack in my car.   I told my kids they could eat one a day, and they would last 100 days.  How exciting.  I got caught in traffic and 100 days turned into 100 seconds.  These were great 7 at a time.

This is the first year I did not order any Girl Scout cookies.  Or do drive-bys at Harris Teeter to get more when I eat the whole box.  Yes.  The whole box of Samoas.   I can kill a sleeve of Thin Mints as well.   Ask my husband.  He suggested I enter a competitive eating contest one time.  And I plotted ways to Lorena Bobbit him that night.

We can’t be like normal families when it snows and have hot chocolate by the fire.  Mommy eats all the marshmallows.  Yes.  This marshmallow addiction is nothing new.  When my addiction is in full force,  I even eat the marshmallows out of my kids cereal.

I saw these a while ago when I was shopping at Wal-Mart, had erotic dreams about it and went back and ate all twelve 1-2 servings.

Since they make almonds and pork rinds in this flavor, I am good.  Now.  But I used to make love to a bag of these on a road trip.

There you have it.  This is the short list by the way.  I will continue to add to this and take any and all suggestions.

What is your favorite binge food?

Fujo and Celtic Knights

It is no surprise that I love to date.  I mean, I can get around.  I date my husband, my friends, my mom, my in-laws, and in desperate measures, I date my children.  My cousin gave us tickets to see Celtic Knights.  I wasn’t surprised that my husband didn’t want to go because he is lame isn’t interested in amazing things like eating out and seeing shows.

My daughter, on the other hand is not lame, loves amazing things and was pumped to go!  We decided to use a Groupon (Am I the only one obsessed with Groupon/Livingsocial/Sweetjack?)  to eat out since I am still going strong with  March Project 12.  Salsaritas was not happening anymore…even though we have only been once all month, we are over it.

We went to Fujo Uptown Bistro, which is an Asian bistro and sushi bar right on College Street.

For our appetizer, we chose Crispy Tofu in a special sauce.   It was good, but if you are wondering the “special” sauce was soy sauce.  I like the idea of eating tofu…I just don’t like eating it as much as I like the idea of eating it.

Kadyn loves miso soup…but this wasn’t her favorite.  She likes the miso soup at Nakato’s the best.    We used a Groupon for that a few weeks ago when we went on a three generation date with my mom.  (yes.  I celebrate half birthdays too.  anything to date anyone.)

She ordered “sushi”  This is their philly roll…the salmon is smoked, but she thought she was really hot stuff eating raw fish and I didn’t have the heart to tell her it was cooked.

I got Volcano Beef.  This was on fire when they bought it to me and fire is always fun.  It was fantastic…the veggies were al dente, beef was tender and the shrimp was spicy!

Kadyn and I decided we would give this place 3 thumbs up.  (5 being so totally awesome).  The service was great, and my entrée was fantastic.  The app, soup, and her sushi were just okay.  We decided we would go back…but only if we had a coupon!

Charlotte’s beautiful skyline–we walked the few blocks to the McGlohan Theater to see Celtic Knights.  No photos during the show.  If you get the chance to see this…it is amazing.  The dancing, singing, playing of the instruments, and the comedy.   I was in tears (of course) seeing some of the audience members sing along to the songs.  You could just tell they were proud of their heritage.

My mom made a comment after my last two posts (Facial hair and Orange is the New Black ) that she wished the blog could go back to recipes.  In her honor, the next few posts will be appropriate for all audiences.  I can’t promise anything after that.

First it was the holidays, then the all-inclusive retreat in Mexico.  My eating habits were starting to fall, which means stomach issues and weight gain for me.   I have really tried to clean up my diet the past couple of weeks.  I know that diet is so much a part of being fit, healthy and lean.  It doesn’t matter how much you work out…you have to keep your diet clean.  I like to keep my very high protein, high healthy fat, high veggie, and super low carb.  This is works best for me to keep my UC in check.  This is also how I have kept off the 70 pounds I gained with both of my pregnancies.  (74lbs and 68lbs to be exact.  Yes.  I was a house.  The entire White House– since I am obsessed with Scandal I must make a reference.)

This pie chart is a great depiction of the Body Beautiful/Body Healthy.  (The Eat-Clean Diet:  Recharged by Tosca Rena)

So, we had shrimp this week.  Lots of shrimp, lots of ways.  Shrimp is a super food in my book.  A three ounce serving of shrimp (about 14 medium shrimp) has 90 calories, 1 gram of fat and 17 grams of protein.   Shrimp is also a good source of iron. One serving of shrimp has 11 percent of your daily recommended amount of iron.  (I know it is high in cholesterol…I’m good.)

We had a 2 pound bag of shrimp in the freezer.  I played one shrimp, two shrimp, red shrimp, blue shrimp.

One night it was bacon wrapped.  See the recipe here.

I boiled some shrimp, put it on ice.  I peeled it and ate it cold with this amazing spicy horseradish.  Ketchup and bottled cocktail sauce are super sugary, so I make my own using this, and a little bit of crushed tomatoes.  Delish!

This was by far my favorite!  I sautéed some shrimp with Cajun seasoning…added diced avocado, cherry tomatoes and cilantro.  Bestest ever.

I wish I had made some shrimp salad…I copied this recipe from what I think the Fresh Market puts in theirs.  It is delish.

Happy Shrimping!
