Beach Trip!

I love our annual family beach trip to Nags Head.  I can’t believe we have been going for 11 years now!  This year, I had to do things just a little differently.  I don’t have the luxury of having the summer off anymore, so even on vacation, I keep up with my social media accounts, post blogs, and visit yoga studios to see other teachers in action.

A few mornings, I got up, packed up the beach bag, and had my coffee while I worked on my blog.  It never took more than an hour, and I felt relaxed the rest of the day.

The other mornings, we hit the Outer Banks YMCA for some yoga and body design classes.  I am starting a new Body Design class at The Cornwell Center this month, so I wanted to check out a different style.

We were lucky enough to do some paddle boarding in the sound this trip.  My sister-in-law has a friend who owns tons of paddle boards, so she let us come over and taught us all how to do it!  It was so fun, and such a good workout.

I was determined to do some yoga on my board.   Headstand was not happening, but I got into mountain climber and full wheel!

Shrimp Boil!  One of my favorite beach eats.  My husband and I kept to our keto diets for the most part.  We did eat our fair share of ice cream on the trip… there is a singing ice cream shop about 1/4 of a mile from our place.  I know I said in my previous blog post that I was only getting it twice, but that turned into four times.  AHHH!  Ice cream is one of those things that I cannot say no to.  The scale said we both gained around 2 pounds, so we are happy there.  we can get right back on track in a day or two.  My head is pounding though…craving the sugar.  (and there may have been some beer and champagne involved…there was a hurricane, remember?)

When we weren’t paddle boarding, eating ice cream, or playing corn hole, this was it…reading on the beach.  One of my absolute favorite things to do.

I read 5 books this past week, and this was by far the best!  I read The Art of Hearing Heartbeats last summer and loved it.  I had no idea there was a sequel to it until a yogi friend mentioned it.  She was nice enough to let me take this on my trip with me…before she even read it!  Thanks Madison! 🙂

The last night we went out for Mexican food, and I had to get a picture with my two favorite little people against this bright yellow backdrop.  (My son spent his allowance on that plastic bow and arrow set at Wings, and he took it everywhere all week.)

What is your favorite family vacation spot?
