We are Breaking up!
I am a happy person. Not yesterday. I have had probably 3 really bad days in my whole life. Yesterday was by far the worst. First of all, I woke up with a gianormas (giant and enormous combined) zit on the tippiest tip of my nose. I look like Rudolph. Work situations were not what they were supposed to be. One of my students broke something of mine. (on purpose) It was the first day back at work after a really awesome winter break. Oh, and I found my ipod in the washing machine. My Rudolph nose lit the way so I could see it at the bottom of the washer. I cried during almost every class I taught. (that kinda cry where you just.want.to.go.home.) Wahhhhh.
Needless to say, I made it through the day with out caving in to my biggest addiction. Diet Dr. Pepper. It is my biggest vice. I don’t smoke, drink(like I used to!), do drugs, or eat wheat or sugar. So, can’t I enjoy something? Yes. But not drink diet soda. (I’m a slow learner)
I was hungover yesterday. From artificial sweetners. (and cookies) I probably drank 5 cans the day before which is way more than my body has become used to. (I was down to one a day or less) I was chugging diet soda because I didn’t want to go back to work. The articfical sweetner tricked my body into thinking it was hungry. I wanted to eat cookies. So, I did. Damn. I fall into that trap frequently. Then I felt fat, bloated, grumpy, and miserble. I probably needed another diet coke. What a vicious cycle.
I am slowly breaking up with Diet Dr. Pepper. Don’t tell, but I may have something else already lined up. It’s called water. I spiced it up and got a water that is carbonated and flavored naturally. It’s bubbly and refreshing. I hope it isn’t a rebound.
Below is a link to a video a friend made about artificial sweetners. She has her masters in nutrition, so I guess she knows what she is talking about. (although she doesn’t eat bacon, which makes me so sad for her.)
Her take on diet sodas. “Just stop.”
