Ya’ll know I am a huge beauty junkie.
I was so excited to have my friend Jordan Godfrey come over last week and put on some eyelash extensions! This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, and finally just bit the bullet and did it.
I wanted to have Jordan introduce herself on my blog, so I sat down with her for a chat before we got down to business!
Me: Tell my readers about you!
Jordan: Hey loves! I am Jordan Godfrey, owner/esthetician of Lash Boutique a la mode. I am 21 years young, have a wonderful boyfriend and our two dogs we love so dearly: Rex and Pinot! I started doing eyelash extensions a year ago. I went to Academy of Nails and Esthetics in Charlotte, to become an esthetician and then went on to get certified by Novalash to be a professional lash extensions stylist. I work full time at a doctors office and had started my eyelash business as just a hobby on the side in the evenings. It has now grown so fast to where I have at 2 to 6 clients an evening after getting off work. I am so blessed my business has blossomed into what it is today! Who would have ever thought lash extensions would be such a huge hit? I hope to be able to one day do eyelashes full time. It makes me so happy to know I am able to provide a service to make others feel good about the way they look. Thank you to everyone for being able to allow me to have a job I absolutely LOVE!
Me: What products do you use?
Jordan: I am certified in Novalash. I use Novalash glue, which is the only one that is proven to be formaldehyde free. (Formaldehyde is proven to cause cancer!) Novalash is also the only one which IS oil loving.
Any oil will break down the other glues, causing your extensions to fall off and not last as long.
Novalash glue is conditioned by oil causing it to stay soft, supple and not crunchy sounding.
I use synthetic lashes from different brands. My favorite at the moment is Minky lashes.
Individual lash extensions are placed on one by one, hence the name INDIVIDUAL.
Clusters and strip lashes can cause permanent lash damage. When you place too heavy of a lash or cluster of lashes onto one natural lash, it can cause breakage to your natural lashes.
All the fiber mascaras and most all mascaras have chemicals in them that have been proven to cause permanent damage to your lashes.
Me: I have been hesitant to get extensions because of the upkeep. How do I take care of these lashes?
Jordan: With lash extensions you can go about your every day life; Swimming, working out, showering, etc. without them all falling out and without using mascara! Lash extensions are like nails, you will need to have them filled in every so often due to natural fall out and wear and tear. Most people don’t know this, but your lashes have 3 different phases…Growing, resting and shedding. Your lashes are always falling out and growing new ones in their place. YES that is correct! You aren’t born with just one set of lashes, so don’t freak out when you lose a lash, another one will grow in its place as long as there is nothing there to cause damage, (EX: Clusters, Strip lashes or Fiber mascaras)
Lashes provide not only a fast easy morning of getting ready, but also provides a natural curl and opens up your eyes providing a “face lift” or “eye lift” affect.
Lashes are truly the new trend that I don’t believe is going to be going out of style anytime soon!
Here I am- in the comfort of my own home with Jordan applying my lashes! Jordan is a huge perfectionist, which I LOVE. If a lash is even the slightest bit crooked, she fixes it. If your lashes cannot hold the longest extensions, she will not put those on. (I hate to say it, but there are people out there that will let you leave with jacked up lashes, maybe skip a few lashes, and put on heavy extensions which causes your lashes to break!) Jordan wants you to have the most wonderful experience with ultimate care for your lashes. It has been a week and I am absolutely in love with these lashes!
