Love, and Be Loved

Sore body, Light Heart

I just finished up Stephanie Keach’s Vinyasa Flow Training.  It was 5 days of a two hour master class every morning, followed by intensive work with breath, postures, cueing, and sequencing.  Stephanie is well known in the yoga world, and I love her.  She is authentic, fun, has such a wonderful open heart.  I want to be her when I grow up.

I always felt like I was my Grandaddy’s favorite grandchild.  I think we all felt like we were his favorite.  He had that unique ability to make you feel special.  Stephanie is the same way, so I felt like I was her favorite.  But, I bet if you asked any of the women in my training, they would say that they were her favorite.  She is filled with grace, love and kindness.  And some Heavy-D and the Boys for good measure!

Besides her “realness”, another thing I love about Stephanie is that she is pretty much self-taught.  She didn’t go through a formal teacher training.  She learned from her own (almost 30 years) practice, her instructors, and her students.  She knows her stuff.  And if she doesn’t, she will find out for you.  She listens to her body and tries new things.    I am the same way.  I like having the freedom and flexibility to play crazy music, and encourage my students to try crazy things.  I don’t like to fit my classes, sequences, or students in a mold.

The women in my training were from all different citites, studios, backgrounds and ages.  I learned just as much from them as I did from Stephanie.  It is so nice to be in a community of women who enjoy being with their breath, moving their bodies, and accepting each other just as we are.

If you are ever in Asheville and have the chance to take Stephanie’s class, do it.

You will love and feel loved.
