A few weeks ago, we made the trip. Tiger World is a nonprofit animal conservation and educational center dedicated to rescue, rehabilitation, and preservation of exotic animals. They are open to the public (except for Wednesday) for educational guided tours and walkabout self-guided tours. Located in Rockwell, NC it was just a quick trip…well besides the Chick Fil A stop for lunch!
My sweet Brody at the entrance of the park.
The park is set up with cages all around, and you just walk through. (I would not recommend this park for wheelchairs, strollers, or anyone with any walking issues because of the uneven terrain.)
The lions were beautiful…they even have an extremely rare silver lion and lioness. (both with blue eyes!)
Swans and peacocks just roam around…so bird phobia peeps may be uncomfortable.
This is the famous baboon that you have heard about. Poor soul. He was raised by a woman who treated him like a child. She dressed him, and had him sit at the table to eat. The cashier warned us about him, and said he might get agitated. We had no idea what we were in for. Before we even got to his cage, he was going crazy. He would not take his eyes off of me and kept waving at me. We left because we didn’t want to disturb him. Of course my kids wanted to go back to see him, and I stayed back and looked at some other animals. He wouldn’t give any other visitors the time of day. A man and his son were at the cage and he could care less about them. Same with my kids and my husband. He was at the complete opposite end of the cage looking at me. We find out later that the woman who had “Monk” had blonde hair and he gets really excited when he sees blondes. And he was really excited to see me if you know what I mean. My daughter even observed him “peeing out of his lipstick.” I can’t even tell you how flattered I felt.
These two crazies don’t get out much.
We got to witness feeding time!
Enjoy your Sunday! 🙂
